Prostate Cancer

An estimated 217,730 men will be diagnosed with the disease in 2010. It is estimated that 32,050 deaths from this disease will occur this year.

Prostate cancer runs a second to skin malignancy incidence in men and, except for lung cancer, is attributed to more deaths than any other cancer. It is estimated that about 1 out of 6 men will be diagnosed with this disease during his lifetime, and only 1 man in 34 will die of it.

One of our heroes, Laurie Codding

Laurie Codding proudly says that she was Florida’s first female plumbing contractor in the 1980s.

The 53-year-old former Bradenton resident — she lived off Cortez Road in the 1990s and now lives in Venice — says being a plumber with all its bending, lifting and stretching made her so strong and healthy that people would ask her what gymnasium she worked out in.

Hello! I’m so excited about an event I just signed up for – the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. There are a lot of breast cancer events out there, but I’m walking and fundraising for the American Cancer Society because they are the leader in the fight to end breast cancer – doing the most in every community to help women with breast cancer today and working tirelessly to find cures to end the disease tomorrow.
